David Martell

David Martell is currently seeking an M.Sc.F student to work on the development of fire management decision support systems to inform the day-to-day management of initial attack airtankers (i.e., where to deploy airtankers each day and their alert status) and inter-provincial sharing of fire suppression resources.ย

Research on these topics calls for a strong background in quantitative methods (e.g., undergraduate linear algebra, statistics), software (e.g., Python) and spatial analysis (e.g., GIS software). Practical fire management experience would be a definite asset.ย

Interested students should send Professor Martell a copy of their CV and their undergraduate transcript.

Mike Wotton

Mike Wotton is not currently looking broadly for graduate students. However, if you are a student with a background working with Canadian fire management agencies, and an interest in deepening your research skills in the area of fuels and fire behaviour, he is happy to talk and will consider applicants on a case-by-case basis.

Interested students should contact Dr. Wotton over email. In your email, please include a description of your background in school and the experiences that led to your wanting to pursue graduate work in the area he focuses on.
