Chelene Hanes is a Scientist with the Canadian Forest Service (CFS), Natural Resources Canada. She is located at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She completed her PhD in 2022 under the supervision of Mike Wotton. Her PhD research focussed on improving our understanding of drought in fire danger rating, through field studies and remote sensing applications. This work will contribute to the Next-Generation of the Canadian Forest Fire Rating System (CFFDRS). Dr. Hanes is a core member of the national CFS Fire Danger Group.
