Research Assistant

MFC

Zoë is a research assistant of Dr. David Martell in the Firelab, investigating the probability of detection of lightning-ignited fires by aerial patrols in Ontario. They completed their Master of Forest Conservation at the University of Toronto in December 2022, and have a BA in Geography and Earth Science from Vassar College in New York State. Their specialty is in using Geographic Information Systems for environmental data management and analysis. They’ve used GIS to support the work of a conservation land trust in the Adirondacks, an urban fruit picking organization in Toronto (Not Far From The Tree!), and for multiple environmental research projects to support land management and municipal policy decision-making processes.
